Sandy Matheson and Anne McAlister started the business in 1991, since when it has grown to become Scotland's largest classical CD specialist. The shop also stocks a wide range of DVDs and books on music and musicians, as well as a selection of Scottish folk music CDs.
Anne has an honours degree in Accountancy and Computer Science and is a Chartered Accountant. She now feels she has the best of both worlds, combining her business background with her lifelong love of music. Anne sings with various choirs including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus. Her main musical passions encompass Bach and music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Dawn Cooke joined us in 2007. Dawn is a clarinetist and graduate of Christ Church College, Canterbury. Since graduating, Dawn has worked at Farringdons in Canterbury and at the Barbican in London before moving to Edinburgh in 2006.
Heather Kennedy joined us in 2006. Since graduating from the RSAMD in 2005 she has been working as a freelance violinist with various orchestras and ensembles, including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. She also teaches both violin and piano privately and plays the organ at Alexandria Parish Church in West Dunbartonshire.
Ruth Squire joined us in 2004. An Edinburgh University music graduate and pianist, Ruth combines work with piano teaching and taking a course in counselling.
Wayne Weaver is our Saturday salesperson and holiday helper. Currently a music student at Edinburgh University, he studies organ and harpsichord and is the organ scholar at the High Kirk of St Giles. In his spare time Wayne also sings with the Edinburgh University Singers and intends to enter the world of performance when he completes his formal academic training.
