There was no shortage of candidates for our Christmas Catalogue this year. New discs are available from a host of major artists, among them Anna Netrebko, Angela Gheorghiu and Diana Damrau. Paul Lewis’s new Schubert set is eagerly anticipated, as is Riccardo Chailly’s Beethoven cycle (which we are promoting at a very attractive price). Gramophone’s Disc of the Year, the Pavel Haas Quartet’s recording of Dvořák string quartets, is included - a worthy winner. An unexpected item is Hyperion’s live recording from this year’s Proms of Havergal Brian’s Gothic Symphony, although it won’t be released until the end of November. A separate leaflet features Harmonia Mundi’s beautifully-packaged Christmas CDs; order one, and we’ll include a free sampler which makes for a lovely disc in its own right. And for fans of the Alpha label and EMI DVDs, our October special promotions offering substantial reductions run to the end of the year.
